My Girl Story Documentary Film Screening tells the stories of two African American girls from Detroit, Michigan and their fight to be the young women they want to become. One of the girls featured, Shokana, has Spina Bifida. This film gives a voice to the challenges of 21st century black girls with disabilities. After the film, the Producer of My Girl Story, Tameka Citchen-Spruce will do a talk back with the audience to answer questions and share tools on ways we as a disability community can support black girls with disabilities.
