Name
Workshop 8 - Emergency Planning and Response Roles for Health Plans Serving People with Disabilities
Date & Time
Thursday, July 22, 2021, 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM
Description

We live with increasing frequency, intensity, scale, and duration of climate, public health, and other large disasters. Unlike other service systems, health plans touch most people with disabilities. When plans embed emergency planning, the speed at which they activate their response can correlate with optimizing limited resources, life-saving and life-sustaining outcomes. But plans are not always apart of community partnerships’ planning, response, and recovery. Explore advocacy strategies to decrease the undisputable disproportionate impact on people with disabilities and strengthen plans’ engagement in protecting narrower margins of resilience, health, safety, and independence of members before, during, and after emergencies.
