Workshop 11 - The Unmasking of Ableism in Healthcare Settings during the Pandemic: Lessons Learned and Strategies to Combat Against Them
Date & Time
Friday, July 23, 2021, 1:45 PM - 3:00 PM
Description
The COVID–19 pandemic has unmasked the most extreme forms of Ableism by healthcare professionals and public health departments throughout the country in the forms of discriminatory treatment decision-making, rationing of life supporting equipment and the adoption of crisis standards of care. While the virus may subside, the lingering effects of that Ableism will remain. Centers for Independent Living are uniquely poised to address these issues with healthcare systems and hospitals, public health officials and state governmental leaders.
