Disabled people, disproportionately Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American, and Pacific Islanders, and other people of color with disabilities, are some of the hardest hit by our nation’s housing crisis. Due to the racist and ableist histories of housing, there still is not enough affordable, accessible, and inclusive housing where all people, disabled and non-disabled, can live and thrive in their own homes and in communities of their choice. Join The Kelsey, an inclusive housing development and advocacy organization, to learn about the groundswell of disabled leaders for housing; some of the nuts and bolts of housing development advocacy and its connection to home and community-based services (HCBS) advocacy; and tangible ways you can plug in to support a disability-forward housing future.
